I have been very impressed with this little cat. Light and easy to trailer to Angola on the bad roads.
Will it work with two 15 Suzuki 4strokes or two 20hp Honda's.
Will it carry two adults and 2 boys?

To answer a few questions - No it wont work with Suzuki 15hp four strokes as these are only availiable in short shaft - the Catskee 375 only runs on long shaft motors - short shaft in the ocean are a recipe for disaster as they get too wet. The boat runs amazingly with 2 x 20hp four stroke motors but you must watch the weight - some 20hp motors are actually retarded or tuned down 25hp motors and are heavy - around 70kgs each which is too much for the boat. The honda 20hp 4 stroke come with powertrim, electric start and weigh only 58kgs each - I have a demo boat with this setup at Durban Honda at Wilson Wharf.
Transom maximum with the consol in the rear position is around 100kgs and with the consol in the forward position 125kgs.
As to capacity it can only take 3 persons to sea as at 3.75 meters and the rule being one person per meter..... However for bay, estuary and dam/river use it will carry four persons no problem.

I am used to the mind blowing fuel consumption of the Honda's and Suzuki's.What is the consumption of the small (15hp)2 strokes...?
During the DBN boat show I have two demo boats on the water - one with 2 x 15hp Yamaha 2 strokes and the other with 2 x 20hp Honda fur strokes. Both boats did around 15 to 20 demos each. Both boats where used equally and the 2 strokes used 7 litres per motor over the whole 3 day show and the 4 strokes around 6 liters over the whole show. Both options are very economical - with the 4 strokes just sliding in as more ecoomical. R100 would get you fishing for most of the day! C'iao Mark.

Had a look at the boat on your website and it looks really good. Do you have any boats in the Pretoria,Joburg region I can go check out?? Whats the possibility of a trolling motor on the front? And if you order directly from you guys will you be able to put on a casting deck? Something like the African Skiff Hybrid. And one last one,can I tow it with my corsa bakkie?? Will mostly be using it for artlure fishing.

I went for a demo with mark on this lovely little boat a while ago and was really realy impressed. Mark was also very helpful and answered all our 100 questions and really went out of his way. Ideal father and son combo or 2 guys who want to go hunt some snoek. She turns like shes on rails !!!
I also believe this would make an ideal bass boat and it comes with a live well. 1 x engine. and a sneaker motor attached and you would have an awesome fishing boat for a very very good price.
Saw one off shore last week with a single 40Hp motor installation and 2 guys fishing for snoek off her.

Yes we can raise the forward deck but would use a wooden framed removable type as opposed to a glassed in permanent type as this would be both cheaper and not limit the boats application in a resale perspective. Yes we can fit a sneaker forward - we would use a retractable foot control type ideally or could use a hand control type for economy if desired. Yes you can tow it with your Corsa - max total weight wouldn't exceed 450kgs so even a little Kia would do it. I do have two customers up your way in Rivonia and in Pretoria with boats - let me check with them if ok to view and I'll get back to you with their info. Till then. Regards, Mark

Just noticed I haden't answered all of big fish small boat's ?'s. As to will it carry 2 adults and two boys it would depend on where. In a dam, estuary, bay etc yes it would but offshore not. The rule is one person per meter so at 3.75meters only 3 are legally allowed. Whilst I realise that payload would equate to 3 adults this is the SAMSA law and not mine - however on protected waters it would be no problem depending on the motor setup - obviously 1 x 15hp motor won't be sufficient for that payload.
At the Durban boat show last weekend a fairly large gent asked me if he could be taken for a demo which I agreed to - he then asked if his kids could come and I agreed - with that two kids of around 100kgs each jumped on leaving now the 4 of us. Fortunately it was on a Catskee with 2 x Honda 20hp 4 strokes and we had the power to perform!!! Next time I'll check out the kids first before agreeing!!!

Thank you for the info Catskee. I currently have a 15ft Navarone with two 40hp 4strke Suz's. Sold my 15ft Kei Cat. I miss the stability of the CAT's. Unfortunately I need to be able to carry 2 Adults and two boys (me and my brother's son's) when we go off-shore in Angola
PS. The Navarone is also a nice boat..., but not a CAT. I aslo use the boat for freshwater fishing. The Catskee would be ideal for me and my son.

The reason for favouring 4 strokes for some is that the 2 strokes are only availiable in pull start and are noisier and smellier than the 4's especially when trolling. Also for those wanting more power the 4's come in 20hp whereas the 2's are only availiable in 15 and 25's which are actually tuned down 30's so are very heavy. The two setups are completely different and change the ride and handling so much so thanthey are like two completely different boats. Both have advantages and disadvantages over each other and depending on the boat's application and owners desires one setup would be better over another.

One 15hp 2 stroke motor can range from R12 000 to R27 000 each hence the large variance. The 4 stroke options range from R120 000 for 2 x 20hp electric start 4 stroke Yamaha's to R129 500 for 2 x 20hp electric start with powerlift 4 stroke Hondas.
I must say there is a huge difference between the 4's and 2's on a small boat especially in noise - the 4's are so quiet I twice at the boat show tried to start the starboard motor when it was already running!! Sometimes when both motors are running only looking at the tell tale water is the only way to discern if the motor is running they are that quiet.
