Had a discectomy on L1 on 17 May month, Doctor put me off for 6 weeks from work, Due back to work 1st July only, I tried to sneek in a fishing session at night with some mates but after the session i could tell i'm not ready yet.

Anyone else had similar operation, if so how long B4 you were able to seriously fish, also do you suffer any long term adverse affects from having a discectomy?

My wife had one done on her cervical vertebrae(neck area) some years ago after a very serious car smash. She gets a bit of pain in winter but we're still able to do the kama sutra from cover to cover.......

Just listen to your Dr and you'll be fine!

If you screw your new implants up now you are going to have more troubles sooner than you think !

If the doc says lie don't sit, then just do what he says and follow to the T. When you're ready you can let rip and show every one else how it's done.

Untill then you're light duty. Eat your jelly and custard and don't even bite down hard on biltong ;-)

Had that 18 years ago. Take it easy and do as the doc say's. I also went fishing a comp. after 6 weeks and could hardly walk after that. You are going to get spasm's in your back and it is very painfull. Rather take it easy and do the execises they give you and it will all be fine
