Daiwa Tournament Braid 8 20lb

How do u guys rate this braid I'm gonna spool my Stradic 5000 with it.

I use it and its very good with the right knot. I use an FG knot other older type knots are not so good. But I use mine on a 3000 shimano for estuary fishing up 20g lures/ have caught some nice fish on it though. For heavier lures/spoons use something else like the new Gosen.

I really enjoy the Diawa braid, in fact it is the only braid I use.
Quiet a few reasons, to many to type.
The one main reason is it is pre stretched.

Check out 'Paulus line testing' (Google search) - this braid tested around 12-13lbs. I've used the 30lb extensively but the 20lb is unreliable in my experience. Not just me, UK reviews (search 'Henry Gilbey Daiwa braid review") also mention that it seems to break well under it's rated strength. I guarantee it will cost you lures or worse break your heart on a fish.

Get Gosen x8 - used PE 2 all season here for yellowtail shorebased - awesome line, totally reliable.

In my opinion there is only one "braid" to spool a spinning reel with,

Berkley Fireline, yes more expensive but quality and durability beyond compare.

I use 20 & 30 lb Diawa T8 braid.The 20 lb is nice thin and can fish weightless lures but like alot of 8 strand braids tends to snap at the knot or tip eye when using heavier lures or pencil popper type lures when the cast requires slightly more effort.What we tend to do is ignore the breaking strain and work on the thickness instead.Above 3/4 oz I would move up to the 30 lb its still really thin and probably would be more suitable for a 5000 size reel.

Allsorts, Henry tends to do previews rather then reviews and does not fish anything long enough before moving on to the next best thing. my 2c Great for exposure/advertising.

Fair comment Steven - Henry's a great guy but a little ADHD like many of us! The context for the question is the KZN long-range spinning scene (and I've spent a good few hours at it) where 45g of lead or plastic is pounded out over 100m with an 11' rod for hour after hour. A high quality PE2 is pretty much the minimum.

Thats why I thought I'll give you a heads up on Henry's reviews Allsorts, I dont think he fishes anything long enough to actually find the good or the bad about the product.

Sort of out the box previews but a brilliant photographer still.

Been throwing the 30b Tournament braid on a a Quantam Cabo PTS 50 and now on a Sustain 6000. Very nice feel. Casts smoothly. Quiet too.
