I recently got another Daiwa SL50SHK as they are by far one of the best reels out there.

THe only issue I have is that the handle has some play in it.

is there any way of tightening the handle to remove the play in the handle? or must i just suck it up and deal with it?

Maybe it was a good reel in its day,(actually junk really) nowadays they are mass produced in places like Timbuktu and Saigon.

try to repair it...ensure you tighten the drag somewhat before you replace the handle, holding everything in place and fit the handle back....or take it back to where you bought it.

The handle may have become damaged with continued use! The cover nut may also be stripped or positioned incorrectly?
Best you download a schematic first and work from there.

Good luck.
