Daiwa Saltiga Dogfight vs Shimano? and matching rod

A friend got told to look at buying a Daiwa Saltiga 7000H dogfight for our upcoming trip to Post St Johns and wanted my advice.
What better place to get it than on the forum...

So a few questions came to mind ... What would be the Shimano equivalent?
What would be a good matching rod for this?
What species would target using this outfit?

Shimano equivalent would be a Stella 18 000 , they are both Popping reels

Review on the 2014 Expedition , looks like a beast

Bru , you buy tackle according to what you want to target and its application. In other words , are you going to be jigging? Popping? Bottom fishing or surf?
