Spirits - No real reason mate other than the design doesn't appeal to me... its gaudy in my opinion.... but I know its an absolutely superb reel....

I guess its just what I prefer... some like Mercs, some like Beemers....

Certainly not knocking the reel or its perfromance though, thats for sure.... to me its just doesn't look that good... in fact its ugly... not that the fish care... but at R 10k, I want a reel I like the look of... :)

Yes, well the beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I for one like the looks, look so rugged and aggressive yet elegant and knowing the power behind the reel is a bonus.[/i]

I checked that reel yesterday at Kingfisher.30kilos of drag, thats alot, but practically speaking,i dont think you would be able to exert that much force with a rod, wonder whats the difference between it and the SALTIGA DOGFIGHT,they both the same price,or is it just another marketing gimmick!

I do see the Hot rod red in there. But for R10 G it must be able to fly to.

Ive got two saltiga spinning reels and one stella sw chalk and cheese, but thats besides the point, manufactures always state max drag specs but they never state weather it is on a full spool or empty spool,3 makes a huge difference.30kgs is huge especially when everyone talks about hanging on at 15kgs.

So you prefer the Saltiga to the Stella? (got 2 of them and only 1 stella)
What do you prefer?:ifishin

TO use 30kg drag you need 40kg+ Braid. Not going to get to enough line on to cast and hook a machine bronzie with.

So this baby's going to be restricted to boat use.

Then again many will be replaced as many of us mere mortals will loose rod and reel on a reel that is cranked up to 30kg - That's why twin speed lever drag reels with this type of drag are fished with harnesses

just to let you know that that is in fact a dogfight sold in a different country, australia i think , the reason the ozzies make them different colors is so they know if they have gery imports or not . . . dog fight also has a 30kg drag and 142cm per crank . . . if you going to set your drag over 20kg be careful! it can be done but make sure you hold on and use a minimum of 100lb braid . . preferably 120!
we used them a few times for the sharks in the sard run and with 120lb braid and 300lb wind on leader, they dont stand a chance! just be ready for the fight!!! good luck!
