I'm currently using 0.8 Daiichi's but I'm loosing lost of fish. Should I go over to 1.0's or change to Mustad?

Nothing wrong with Daiichi, not much difference between 0.8 and the 1 either. Mustad 9555 you can use for worm presentation.

I also lost a few on the 0.8 and the 1 but it is not the hook - look at the other variables.

Hi mate if you are loosing fish with the 0.8 daiichi's then you must really look at a few things:

Firstly: How are you playing the fish? When using those hooks you must really play the fish with soft hands and not pull it to hard.
Secondly: Are you fishing with floaties? If you find that you hook some of your fish outside of the mouth on some occasions, remove the floats and fish dough only, what happens sometimes is that the float moves around in the water and the fish dart in to pick up the bait before the others can get there, then there is a big chance of not hooking the fish properly.

Don't change your hooks to a bigger size unless you are catching only big carp in a dam. Your strike rate will drop dramatically when using bigger hooks. The only place i would consider using no 2's is when fishing bloemhof and when you find that you are only catching the bigger carp.

Hope this helps
