Largest Leerie I ever hooked or saw was on a large 3oz popper. Tiny lagoon running into hole in the wall, spring high tide. Saw the fish swim in, first cast on heavy surf tackle, literally landed on the other side bank, about 10m into the water he hit me so hard, surged out the mouth and with a massive tailwalk through the hooks. Was between 1,5 and 1 8m long. Moral of the story poppers do work, some days that fast retrieve with a loud popper can work, other days a subtle long pull on a bucktail.
