Hey Scaley, the last that I heard was that the various groups who had pleged their financial support to RFS had pulled out as it became apparent that the case was going to become too expensive. What happened to the funds raised in the past few months? That would be a good question to have answered. I will send Carey Steel-Boe a mail for clarification. Other than that, you can pack your Kreef equipment away on Sunday until Easter weekend......

Hi Guys,

Just saw your posts about the crayfish season - the first I had heard of it.  Where can I get more info on the new  season dates?

And any comments on the catches you have had thus far this season? I found Buffels Bay to be very fished out!

Thanks
Migs

Hi Migs,

Kreef on the False bay of The point IS quite fished out. It does get better the further south you go. From Kleinkranz to the point, there are some monsters, and almost anywhere on the Cape of Good Hope side.

Here's the gazetted Kreef season:

[size=To summarise:
4 per day at 80mm
08h00 to16h00
15 Nov to 21 Nov: Every day
22 Nov to 26 Nov: No fishing
27 Nov to 12 Dec: Week ends and public holidays only
13 Dec to 31 Dec: Every day
1 Jan to 16 Jan: Week ends and public holidays only
17 Jan to 21 April : No fishing
22 April to 25 April : Week ends and public holidays only]
[/size]

Hope this Helps Matey!
Cheers,
L

Hi Double Tap,

I think I might very well pack my Kreef diving gear away now. There's a large ground swell arriving over the weekend. I think I'll be surfing Black Rocks on Sunday.

Cheers,

Has anybody had any success at Roundrocks, Koelbay? I heard from one source that there aren't many Crays there this season but I have had such success there in the past and I just love diving there. So easy and accessible but not if there aren't any crawlies and with one weekend left I don't want to waste time checking it out.

Hi Ledge

What side of the point is Kleinkranz? Is it near Rooikranz side?

Hi Stealth,

Kleinkranz is almost next door to Rooikranz, just slightly north, on the false bay side...

I got a call from some agency which was appointed by MCM to ask crayfish divers how they felt about the new diving dates and to give a comparison with regards to how the catch was this season compare to last season....funny tho; this was one of my best season's crayfishing. Each and every dive i did was a jol. I think the rangers working at Cape Point must of thought i was unemployed to be diving every day (weather permitted off course)... Average time spent in the water +/- 45mins per dive....
- That's my 11 yo nephew enjoying his christmas cray::S
