hi guys pls help me to catch a craker....any info on how my trace should be what type of hook, bait, line ect....thanks in advance

I agree completely with mustbite. One thing I do differently is I don't use leader when fishing of the rocks. When you have one reel that you fish of the sand and you have to use it on the rocks as well, then by all means use leader because your main line is gonna be 0.55 or less. But if you have 2 reels then rig one for bricks and one for sand. The one for the bricks will have 0.55 minimum diameter line(I prefer 0.6). The reason behind this is 0.6 is more than strong enough for most crackers, I have managed to pull some BBBBBIIIIIGGGG ones around rocks with this line.Hi the trace that i use is a hook snoot of 20-30cm of .60 line on a extra strong 5/0 hook the sinker line of .45 joined to a three way swivel or a medium power swivel can be used remember to make a knot in your sinker line as this makes a weak point in the line and if it snags up with a fish on you will only loose the sinker try use a leader of atleast 1mm and apply lots of pressure when fighting this fish.

When your Hook gets stuck you are going to break your line, if you are using leader.....well then you are leaving 4m of line behind for the next oke to loose his trophy fish in.
If you are going to use big baits like whole red crabs etc. then use 6/0 - 8/0 hooks. When using softer baits a strong 4/0 - 5/0 will do. But like I said this is only my opinion and this is what works for me.
I usually use mono-steel 0.8 for the hook trace. It does the job. Stapies go check at my dad, he has some. Awesome hook line that, I use it for shad as well.
Keep it simble bud. Use red crab, early morning or late afternoon. Deep working water with a rocky bottom is best but you do find them on shallow reefs as well.
Other baits that work is any crap, red bait, white mussel, prawn, alikreukel, tjokka, octopus and sardine.
I have found that you catch them at night on sardine. During the day red crab works best for me. my 2c worth
The easiest way is to find yourself a octopus, put it on a gaff and drag it through pools between the rocks. The red crabs would then quickly exit their hiding places, and you can then catch them. Another way is just to look for them in rocky pools on low tide. Spring low is obviously the best time to catch them.Katot wrote:
