Courier options to get a 14ft straight piece rod from JHB to CPT ?

Hi All,

I am in the process of selling a rod to a buyer in Cape Town.
I spoke to Timefrieght and they willing to courier the rod but I am not sure how would I package the rod.

The rod is an HMG so I wouldn't want it to get bumped or damaged

Any ideas or other option ?

I would use cardboard and make like a tube around it and then bubble wrap it solid and let them know it's fragile goods.
There's various options to make sure it's secure.
I've moved a few TV's with them between Kzn and GP and not once had a problem.

I sent a one piece to a fellow sealiner with Courier IT - Did wrap it with some bubble wrap tO to prevent scratches.
Not very expensive - GOT TO HIM IN ONE PIECE

Option 1 ;

You will need: PVC pipe, bubble wrap and news paper/cardboard and packing tape.

Glue the PVC pipe together, wrap the rod in Bubble wrap, stuff newspaper in the ends, close with pre-cut cardboard slices, tape the ends closed.

Option 2 ;
Place rod in rod rack on-top of car/bakkie and drive to destination.
