Conventional Carp Angling

Hi Guys,
I want to try Rietvlei for the fist time this weekend.
I've heard a lot of negative stuff about blanking at this dam. Being a glass half full guy, I'm going in any case.

Any tips in regards to what my tactics should be?
Will I waste time looking for some bass? ( I know this is the carp post, glass half full).

I will only be there for Sunday, planing to go early.

Let me rephrase question.
Any tips on what flavors to to use? rigs? where to go? will be concentrating on carp, but wont mind the odd Baber, Kurper or bass.

Very difficult dam but you can try berry type flavours. Mielies work the best, but you can worms because there are big babers.

swartman ek hoor meeste konv ouens vang met floaties daar. Jy sal maar nog steeds n marker float moet gebruik om die skoon bodems te kry daar, dis nie iets wat net deur spesie ouens gedoen word nie anders gaan jy net op luck moet staat maak en dit werk nie altyd by Rietvlei nie!
