Competitive angling

It would be nice if we could spice up the freshwater section a bit with some competitive anglers chatting about the latest techniques and news regarding venues. I'm starting competitive freshwater angling again, after a 3 year layoff, and i feel very exited to make a comeback to the sport.

Did provincials and Nationals in 96-97 for the Juniors.

Got Natal Colours, and Presidential Colours at Spitskop, near Jan Kempdorp.

I also decided to give it a rest and take a break, but i can''t stay away for long.

I started angling a year later again and I was surprised at how much techniques and tools change in a year.

I do not have Bol dips and flavoured Tiger Nuts. One thing that I have and always will do, is make my own boilie traces and make my own boilies with Brown bread and Wit Pap.

I have a couple of dips that I know work in the dams, about 13 dips, but I also have all the Robertsons essence that I use to fish with when I was about 5 or 6.

I also stil make my own Mieliebom as these quick mix boms all smell like burnt mielies.

Maybe we can create like a monthly newsletter for all the freshwater bank angling guys with tips and tricks and updates.

@Jacques I would like to talk to people who are currently in the game. What province do you fish for? National colors? I'm talking about bank angling.

Then we fished together in the Tri Nations agains Zim and Namibie in 1996. I also recieved my colours at spitskop dam near Jan Kemp dorp. It was me , Paul and Tjaart Coetzee from Gauteng North who recieved colours that year.

The Guys from Natal that got colors, was myself, Nicki, Andre v/d/Westhuizen.
Team Captain was  Willie Prinsloo for Natal.

I gave angling a break after that and became and Provincial official for Natal during the league's.

One thing is for sure, Once the fishing "gogga" bites, there is no letting go.

Both my parents got Provinicial colors for Natal, my mother also received presidential colors at Giyani.

Tjaard (Hennie Snorre's son) - little brother Spyker Coetzee - by the way all seniors now.

I fish for Gauteng North. Bank Angling I just participate in the league as my time and effort is towards Carp Angling - currently the chairman of the Carp Angling sub comittee for Gauteng North - My club = Koedoe.

Off to the Nasionals end November (Bloemhof Bamboesspruit)

I am glad to hear that they are still hot on the fishing.
I also couldn't stay away for to long.

I am looking to join a club, but only social for now. Maybe later do league's etc.

Can you send me a bit more information about your club.

This was my best achievements when I fished competative angling.

I also fished a number of 'Angler Mail' compos, with top results, in the UK and represented Kent in a number of leauge fixtures. All this fishing a very 'South African' style and literally drew very confused crowds and the bank.

Wow that's a great achievement. Although i'm making a comeback i'm still new to the sport. I was able to make the Freestate A side, and fished one National champs for the B side. I had to pull out of the last Nationals because of study constraints. Now i'm finished with that, completed my articles and ready to fish BIG time!
