Ek het altwee gebruik .Sirkel hoeke en J hoeke. Altwee werk goed. Die laaste ruk gebruik ek die groot 20/0 sirkel hoeke en elke pick up was vas.

Ek wil net 'n koreksie maak. Met gly stoppe gebruik ek 2 hoeke. een J en een sirkel en ook nie so groot nie. Die sirkels wat die beste gewerk het was so 14 tot 16/0. As hy in is is hy in. Die probleem is met swemaas. Ek het die laaste sessie gesukkel met hook ups. Jy kry die verskiklike run. Hy hardloop 800m van die katrol af en jy kap vir 'n vale maar dan los hy net die aas en jy besig dat jy nie eers gehak was nie. Sal graag wil sien hoe ander mense dit doen, want my TN 50 hou te min en te dun lyn( 50lb braid en .60mm topshot) my voorslag is 10m 400 tot 500lb nylon op 2 tot 5m 450lb staal. 12/0 J hoeke en 20/0 Musted sirkel hoeke. Dit is te lig. Ek is leeg gehardloop, af gespring, afgebyt en oopgetrek en die een run het my stok se katrol klemp gekraak en ook die katrol se voetstaander gebuik. (die katrol se rem was los, dit was net die geweld en krag van die pick up)

Found when using circles on swimbaits to rather attach a 3/0 hook by 90lbs steel to the eye (20cm) and hook the small hook into the bait and the circle hanging loose.
I've been watching predations and taxing of sharks on hooks and 99% of the time the prey item is hit either on or just behind the Dorsal.
Speculation is that as the thing being predated has a mouth full of teeth the predator is hitting the prey to incapacitate the prey so it bleeds to death or cant swim and is then eaten.
As a result we pin the fish with a sliding rig on the dorsal and anal fin or in the anal fin with 1 x hook.
The problem with a big swimbait is it has to be eaten and not just swallowed like a smaller one so the risk is that the hooks will be missed and then the current washes the bait out of the strike zone or the predator gets it's fill and leaves the remainder of the swimbait drifting on the hook.
Trini 50 with 75lbs braid minimum.
You will not get a reel big enough for all the fish that will take a swimbait. Seen a Tiagra 80SW loaded with 1mm topshot and 900m of 100lbs whiplash and another of 1800m 80lbs tackle both be stripped to the drum of of the Island and the next day off of Shark point.
Then the next day they fought a fish only to lose it close to the Island after 9 hours when it got taxed and then the next day landed a 200kg Bronzie on a swimbait with same gear in 3 hours.

I dont think stuff like that happens down here in namibia, all we catch are bronziez, I would like to catch some other species of sharks for a change..... cant wait to organise a trip to mezzeppa,,,,
