Colombia

I recently moved to Colombia, South America and now live and work in Barranquilla. The wife and I went to Santa Marta, the oldest coastal town in Colombia, founded in 1525. We went to a beach  called Playa (beach) Tagangan and within minutes were offered a fishing trip of 2-3 hours. Obviously I said YES!...wife grumbled a bit but obviously had no choice in the matter. Outcome - a nice 6kg Barracuda caught with an old rickety rod and even older Penn reel...don't know what make...which packed up a few minutes after I landed the 'cuda. Was trawling a purple/white coloured popper. Boat - long wooden boat with sun canopy and a hand operated 40hp Yamaha....real world class primitive. Great outing though. Cristal clear 27deg C water, about 36 deg C ambient temperature and 1000000% humidity....it was HOT!!!

This is the Carribian!! You can catch EVERYTHING here. My wife hasd been ill the last 4 weeks, so I have not been able to go and investigate further. However, many locals explained that offshore fishing here is fenominal.

I will be posting here as soon as I get into the swing of things here.
