Easy to make, alll you need is a piece of flat bar, a 10mm bolt and nut, a couple of washers, a couple of 25mm copper pipe holder thingies and a spring for increasing the tension on the spool.

Does those clips not damage the finish on the rod ?

Pipes good work. I use something simmilar also springloaded work well for braid if your wife does not want to hold the spool
