chasing gallies

The weather seemed way too lovely to waste indoors so we decided on a trip to cape st francis today. fished hard for about 5 hours with no luck apart from a few blacktails. seas were very strong, water temp around 20 degrees and heavy overcast and rainy conditions. funny thing was i caught one blacktail that was absolutely "plank dun." it was by far the biggest fish of the day, but in terrible condition. all the rest were fat and healthy. what can cause that? post-spawning perhaps?

some pics:

lekker weather eh?
