Cedros Reels

I am in the market for some new reels. Have heard mostly good reports regarding Cedros reels. (I have two Cedros reels but have not had a chance to fish them). I need one or two more before December and need some advise to decide.

Top of the range Shimmi and Daiwas are very expensive.(And I don't fish enough to justify buying them new) Would it be better to buy second hand Shimmi or Daiwas or new Cedros?

Would like some feedback from Sealiners who have used them for a while as they have been available for quite some time now. Are you happy with them and are they to be recommended?

Need one to use for spinning(spoons etc. and plugs) and one for sliding mainly for eds and the odd non ed that may decide to swallow the bait.

The two I have bought are specifically for fishing off the bricks on Shimano 110H, loaded with .70 Awa Shima big game for rock cod and brusher. Shorter cast and the thicker line to put the brakes on. That is the idea anyway.

Your feedback is appreciated, many thanks.

I have 2 Cedros 10s Lever drags that I use for jigging (it's the narrow spool version). Fantastic build quality, have only put one of them under a bit of strain with a nice Queen that I managed to subdue far too easily with the Cedros' very powerful drag. But I should be able to give you more detail in a few weeks when I return from St. Laz hopefully having put them under some serious strain.

My research into the reels before I bought them showed that they are well respected in the USA and significantly more expensive than they are here. I can only assume that Okuma is trying to get their premium reels accepted in the market by promoting them at lower prices. I think they made a huge mistake by appointing Midas as their distributor here. Midas is great at selling bits and pieces for cars, but they have not covered the Okuma name in glory as yet. A few of the billfishing guys have expressed a lot of satisfaction with the Makaira range. I can also report that the Salina 11 is a very undervalued reel.

Thanks for the feedback. I was also extremely satisfied with the look and feel of the two I have, just need to test them in December.

Nobody else using Cedros reels? They seem real good value for money.
Any feedback good or bad, thx.

Hi there Iwyk.

I have had my cedros 12s for about a year now, without any maintenance, stil as smooth as day one. As you know these reels spin FOREVER! I've fitted mine with some mags and it gooi's beautifully.

Can't comment on the application you mainly want to use it for(spinning), but if you move up in size to the 15s you would definitely be able to tame some guys with teeth, super strong and smooth drag, decent price, 3 year warranty.

Can't really fault the reel yet.

Hope there are some more guys to share their views with you.

Hope you enjoy!
