Catching Carp on Lure???

I went fishing for carp yesterday and I saw some close in by us but our baits were 50m away and I had a little rod with me, what type of lures can you catch them on?

Back in the day, the round about mid 80s to early 90s I fished the Berg River flowing thru the Paarl valley extensively. Here it was Small Mouth Bass Carp. Quite often I would hook and land Carp amongst the Bass. I dont know if you still can find this colour ( Black top with Gold flanks, sides RAPALA 5CM ) it has two tiny trebbles on it. It worked like a bomb. Slow retrieve for the Carp.
