Catch Register

Hi Guys

I was thinking of developing a website where users can go and record all their catches i.e. Weight, Dam, Water Temp, Lure etc. You can then go and create reports for specific dams and see whats been working at diffrent times of the year etc. We could also do reports on Avg Fish sizes per user / dam / Lure etc.

What do you guys think? would it be used?

Hello Carlo i saw this as well i think it is a great idea, infact it was on outdoor pages website but you can only access it once you have submitted 10 catches and details yourself. This avoids  poeple taking and not sharing i thinh it is a great idea do you know how to design this and if so do you have you own site.

Yes. I'm a .net developer.  It's also quite cheap to host the site. I think it would be cool to add stuff as you like and also view everybody's catches. Could even set up pics for individual catches etc.

The more resources we have available the better. Would also be nice to compare user's avg Sizes etc. Maybe even get some tackle stores to sponser some prizes etc!

Hi CarloT.
I think the idea is a great idea however I think you have got 2 chances of getting information that is worth while - I know guys within the bass circut are very tightlipped with their information because should they release it they lessen their chances of competing with an "edge" so to speak. I also know of guys who will provide "DIS- information" to lead guys off track.
Anyways you and others may choose to disagree with me. But try and call up one of the guys fishing the Bass africa classic next weekend and ask them what the pattern is - I'd say you got two chances.
Even the guys whom write articles/ Make tv Productions will not publically show there secret tricks - even I am guilty of this one - I give more information than most but the "finesse" side of it I will keep to myself.
My 2 C
Use it or lose it

Hi Ryan.

That did cross my mind. And I fully understand! My thoughts were more for the social anglers! To help the guys that are not fishing all the compo's!

What you could also do is Just have the dam, Lure, weight and water temp. Correct me if i'm wrong but it shouldn't make a diffrence to the compo guys saying what they caught their fish on. Most of the dams they fish are quite large so it wouldn't be giving too much away!

Maybe i'm just being silly? but even if they dont want to... nobody would be forcing them to register their catches!

Carlot thats an awsome idea, but i do agree with Ryan there, and i must say that, if it was me that can win a 4 x 4 and a boat, well then i wont tell anyone anything!hehehe....so i do respect that!
But ja awsome idea Carlot.
I do keep record of all my fish that i catch, only just started with it but i think it will pick up and help me to get a pattern but everyday is different, temp of water, where, lure, colour of lure, size, time, moon phase, weather, structure, method etc.

The thing to remember is that different things work on different spots. Obviously I will not pass out info about the spots that I fish. I would rather keep them to myself for future comps. But I don’t see what the problem would be handing out what bait was used. Well in our case giving bait info after a comp like this. There is NO way in HELL that I will give out that info before the comp. But will surly help the people with info after the classic but again. I will only give out certain info. The rest will remain a mystery

I also keep records. It's nice to see what percentage of the fish are caught on crancks and plastics etc. I aslo only started recording all my catches recently along with some of my fishing buddies in dbn. Its fun to rip each other off about avg weights and catch per outing ratios etc.

Hi JohanVC. what info would you give out? another option is keeping your info to yourself a couple of months b4 a classic and post it afterward!

I will keep all info till after a classic. But then I would give out dept the fish was taken. On what lure and rig and what the water temp was and at what time of day. But sorry no spots LMAO ::S
