Keeping it simple when match fishing is not a bad thing if you are doing short sessions. In match fishing you need all the bells and wistles but if you are doing short sessions only the bells is required. Attached is my latest float rod setups. 9ft 2 piece, fast action and small 5 BB reels loaded with 10lb mono.

dont realy have a idea on how it works...

Check the rest of the posts in this forum. It explains everything on the float setup. From my side I am more than happy to meet up sometime and show you and maybe do a session. The equipment is very straight forward. You dont need all the bells and wistles.

The most important is yours rods and reels and end tackle and top of the list is the way you setup your float. This method of fishing can be used to target all species of fish but is mainly aimed at targeting carp.

Caught my PB carp on this method and will never go back to normal carp fishing.

No unfortunately I havent. My mate is huge in the artlure scene and klops for cats all the time. Want to give it try one of these days.

My problem is that I want to catch the biggest fish possible on the lightest tackle possible. lol.

Basically yes but on the freshwater side 5ft rods, smllest reel with minmum 3bb and max 2.5kg line. I caught that carp on the above equipment in the artlure section. Good fun. The norm for match fishing is 13ft+ float or feeder rods but I preffer my 9ft's

Funny that you mention that, I converted one of my 7wt Large mouth yellow fly rods into a float rod. Even extended the butt section. Works so well when targeting fish with a float. Brilliant action

No, we mainly fished curly's. I will say one thing though, in that murky barbel dam I had a cat pick me up and I was fishing with 30lb braid and it snapped me as if I was fishing with cotton. There is monsters in that dam.

My biggest cat there so far is 9kg but that was on boilies when i was doing specimen fishing.

Thats fine. Look I am there every sunday. The wife wants to do her stuff on saturdays and she fishes harder than me so Sundays is the set day.
