Casting with braid

Hi all.

Have been thinking of switching to braid for some time but the horror stories of amputated limbs, rod guides, transoms and anything else that gets in its way when its not standing still worries me a bit.
If you have to use a mono leader with a fixed spool so you don't get cut, how the h*ll are you going to cast a multiplier without loosing your hand just south of your elbow? Does this stuff really cut that bad?

Yip it does cut like a m***** f****. Use a long enough fluoro leader so that by the time you ended your cast the last of your leader should unwind from your reel, maybe bout 7-10metres long.

Get some thumb pads while you at it

Use the search function, your question is one that was discussed in depth a couple of times.

As you can see we all can use the keyboard to communicate so the part about losing fingers and limbs is just a myth.

Hey trdkid!

Tx for the reply. That's what I thought. I was thinking it might be a better bet to buy a picture of some braid, put it in the bottom of my tackle box and forget about it. Although the pro's of braid do sound pretty attractive it seems like too much hassle to me.

Thanks. I've been following the posts on Sealine for a while now and I must say it it kicks ass!

I've used a shoelace to trim 7 mm PTFE insulation on high tension cables that laughs at a Stanley knife so I can believe the cutting angle. I just don't want use something that's going to jump out and take half my thumb away along with the old spark plug 'n sard.
