Casting Practice

When I go for casting practice my sinker always plug when I go to the golf driving range to practice distance casting.

I have tried the tennis ball thing but I don't get further than 80 M.

What do you guys do to prevent plugging of the sinker???

Thanks

Hi the solution is very simple practice casting in a dam or in the sea....also nice because the water creates tenstion wich ensures even line lay. If you can't get to a dam or the sea then I don't no. Maybe try wrapping your sinker in bubble rap and celotape? Might work.

The lack of distance with the tennisball and it's very NON Aerodynamic characteristics is actually a good thing.

It helps you to manage the spool a lot better

It's a more realistic casting apparatus as casting with a bait is never streamlined and as easy as casting a sinker.

The other items I personally use for field casting practise are field hockey balls.

Drill a hole right through it and secure an eye bolt in

The practise hockey ball is around 5.5oz and the match ball is 7oz

Thanks for the reply's.

I will try the hockey ball.

I thought the driving range would be a good option because you can measure your distance. The problem is that you sometimes have to dig the sinker out even with the tennis ball because the sinker goes right through the slit in the ball.

I will follow up all the above mentioned suggestions.

Thanks

PI.

I found that if you stop the reel spool just before the sinker hits the ground it makes the sinker hit the ground on its side and so doesn't bury itself.

Yes perfect Tim, definitely works, spool has slowed down and putting the breaks on makes the weight hit the ground side on and not end on........
