Casting braid?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for suggestions and estimated cost of casting braid to pair up with a Salina 65 and a 12ft rod that I want to use for spinning with plugs and "larger" spoons for leeries and kingies. The rod is rated 2oz-4oz. So the questions are:

1.) What brand braid? Keeping overall strength and casting performance in mind.

2.) What lb or diameter rating? I was thinking about 20lbs?

3.) I'm probably looking to get about 300m-400m or so and to top it up with some 0.40mm mono (is this too thick?)

4.) Is it better to load the mono on top or on the bottom?

5.) If I use the mono at the bottom, would normal mono leader material be sufficient to use or would I have to go for a "thickish"flourocarbon leader instead?

Kingfisher 13.6kg 0.26mm Casting braid 300m and use King Fisher Pro Braid 45lb o.24mm 150m for backing or 150m of Casting braid and 300m of Pro braid for backing

Braid jsut works better for casting plugs and spoons and I use braid for scracthing om my Exeller Oceano 4500

Tks Arno. What knot will you use to join braid to braid? Also, how will 45lb KF super pro braid work on its own?

2 Biminis with a Cats Paw I would reckon is the best knot to jion the 2 but 2 figure of 8 should work. Just think that the Cats Paw would work better.

I not ceratain how the Pro braid would work on casting. Should be fine but I would rather just use it as backing

Jakes, do a search on braid, this topic has been discussed in depth on various occasions. I know it's going to take some time, but I am sure you will get all the answers.
