carp fishing at voelvlei

hi guys
thinking of going to voelvlei dam for a day of carp fishing but not sure where to go.

any help please

At the moment the dam is very low. All the spots marked in red are producing fish.

Be very carful of geting too close to the warters edge as the ground is very soft, at the last big comp there 2 weeks ago 17 cars got stuck !

Tutti Frutti flloaties or, pine apple floaties and a plain meilie on the hook. Meilies in sprits and green florocein has also been working well. If the water is cold use some perdeby on the lok ball.

Can you do a over-nighter there, or is it only open during the day?

You can overnight we have a caravan for hire aswel @ R30/night plus R20 ground fees or R50/weekend [2 nights] the contact person is Urs Swartz 0835414143 to arange for a key to the gate. You can also camp next to the dam and then only have to pay R20/day ground fees.

Thanks, I am currently looking for a place to do a 4 day session during june. Will definitly look into voëlvlei.

As wetfrog  said The dam is low. Good spot is Monster bay. Blue kurper barbel and a lot of carp in the 2-4kg range. oe problem there is ther is a lot of sumerge trees . bait? Any sweet strong dip Bannana and tuity fruity. The bottom is mostly gravel and lots of rocks. just keep a eye on the weather you don't wanne be there if the South Easter is at its best.

Monster bay is too shallow at the moment and is not producing many fish, the kurper has also been very scarce none have been weighed in in our club comps this whole season.
