My nut is heeltemal gestrip...........................................

Currently at St Lucia, and launching at Cape Vidal with the aqua quad.

So this morning arrived at the gate, signed out in the book and when i wanted to go onto the beech to launch, i was stopped.

the parks board official told me that there is  a Jetski restriction of 3 jetskis at a time.

yes i know that, but hey, a aqua quad is not a jetski, it is a inflatable.......................................................

so eventually a guy pitched up.

after 1 minute, i could tell, the conversation is going nowhere.

he states, that they "isimangaliso park, classifies, a aqua quad as a jet ski.

maar my freeken hell, hoe nou?

this guy could not produce any documents, pertaining to the clasification.

at the launch site, the notice regarding jetski's is in place but not what is classified as a jetski.

This is not the last, be sure of that.

attaching a picture of it, so you too can give me the definition of it.

the sad thing is, the guys stood at the gate, from 02:3o this morning, just to be able to launch.

so with me staying at st lucia, there is no way, that i can get to that boom, to secure me a launch.

lastly, went back to st lucia, and arranged with uncle Piet Cilliers.

friendly as always.

launched at st lucia.

went south and on the return got our first snoek. took a halco 160 red head with gold body.

got it to the boat and saw the mate followed the hooked one.

had nothing to chuck at the other one.

bagged it, later took a bite was it was very very nice.

also had a pull on a dead sardine, it kept down low and slow.

after about 40 minutes i called it a day as the fish did not want to surface.

could only have been a non ed.

so, thats it for now.

will see if we can get clarity on the aspect.

bobejaan agter die berg gaan haal.

Hi sea sick. I can not believe that they classify the Aqua quad as a tetski? I also purchased one and what a fantastic fishing platform. Agree that it must be classed as "semi ridget ". Has an outbound with portions?? We must perhaps have this recorded on the annual survey certificate. This is a huge blow for us as this was one of my considerations when I bought my quad. Suggest you also contact the manufacturer as he should have more documents to assist. Please keep me updated. We need to sort this out.I am also #@$& upset about this and will join you to strangle that official. Give me a call on 0788006850 to discuss best way forward and how I can assist. Enjoy your fishing!!!

Janee daars nie pille vir dom nie ,as the name implies a jetski works on a jet propulsion system ,yours works on a outboard ,idiots probably went to same school as Malema

Just a question, doesnt your flotation cert and pink slip say what the vessle is classified as?

If it doesnt say "jetski" then its not?! Show that to the intelligent officials

yes, we need to take it further.
in any case, launched at st lucia this morning at 05:15.

set oof to the jollie rubino. dis plase, osse esels en skape ver.

pulled some strip baits as eric suggested, but no luck.
switched to halco's. stil nothing.
got to the jolly, nothing much, expected more, but it was the first time there.

been there, done that.

the return trip was quicker, drove about 8 km at 25km/h, to just off the point at mappies.

in with the halcos.
interesting, it seems like a grave yard under the quad, nothing ziltz.

ok, closer to the mouth "umfolozi" the one halco went, but the fish did not stick.

saw some bait and dropped the yazuris.
and on with 5 shad at once.

put two out for live bait. drifted a bit, and trolled a bit.

lots of activity in the area of the mouth, but no takers.

called it a day at 11:00

so this afternoon, returned to the beach for some rock and surf fishing.

the shad were wild, and in the 40cm region.
got quota and slid a livie, just to be picked up by a small shark.
my son was the lucky one, he got a propper shad, about 2,5kg. good to start the season this way.

floataion says:

construction:grp pvc

and the vessel is a aqua quad.

doesnt really matter, what we argue; they have classed it as a jetski in the park regulations.

so it seems, that a small craft for two persons is classed as a jetski.

we will have to get the clasification documentation, to  see, how they classed it.

also, a jetski is a personal water craft according to the dictionary.

that means, all skiboats, are jet ski's as all ski boats are personal water craft's

will see how far we can argue with these foxtrots.

This ruling regarding the amount of jet-ski launching dose not apply to any fishing clubs, e.g DSBC. So why dose it only apply to Parks board controlled beach?

ok, spoke to the parks board lady on duty.

it seems, like the decission to clasify aqua quads as jetski's has only been done recently.

seems more like reversed.....................

also, it seems, like many anglers these days have aqua quads and they are all using them at cape vidal.
the lady also stated, that as soon as the holiday starts, and the masses congregate at vidal, then the sports will begin.

so we will have to wait and see.

i made no effort to launch on sunday and monday, as the north east was howling.
so today i waited for my turn, patiently.
got to launch at about 09:00.

got my first tuna on a mozzie.

current is already screaming south.

many fish came out today, dorado, tuna, snoek

sadly my trip has come to a end.
or i cant say sadly, as i could stay longer, but work is calling.

also, no need to clean out the ocean in one holiday.
have to leave some for next time too.

it was a interesting trip.
lots of big shad around, trommel dik geeet.
got our first two dorado's, mine jumped back into the sea after boating it and unclipping it.
first taste of dorado, rather a "growwe hoender van die see"

got my first snoek "of te wel jc"
lekker eating fish.

and got our first yellowfin tuna today.
also fried a piece, ook grof.

the biggest ever shad was caught on the trip," in season"

also did some rock and surf fishing in between.
had about 7 pulls on live shad.
3 small sharks landed.
the other did not stick.

also, the first fish caught on a lure, "natal snoek"

so, more highs, then lows.
will get that yellowfin pic and upload it.
