The main target species this time of year is galjoen. Popular spots are Hoek van Bobbejaan (if you can handle the walk), Platboom, Pegram's Point and Pappiesbank. All of these spots have high and low water spots so one can pretty much fish the whole day.
Best tides tend to be spring tides but more important is to have a decent swell running so that there is enough working water.
My favourite bait is wonder worm but this year I've caught all my galjoen on white mussel. Ripe red bait also works well if you can handle the smell. I've never really had much success with prawn or bloodworm in that area.
