Can I have a listing of dams in & around Midrand.

Roodeplat +- 45kms

Rietvlei  +- 30 kms

Harties +- 55 kms

Bronkies +- 50kms

The distances are TOTALLY guesswork bru

Perhaps Florida Lake (20 - 25kms)
Emmerantia Dam (25-30kms)
Wemmer Pan (40kms)

These are rather k@k dams and I'd rather drive to the Vaal or one of the others mentioned above.

Rietvlei is probly your best bet from 4ways take the PTA highway, take pietersburg split , 1st offramp(john voster)go through Irene and youre there.

Be warned - Reitvlei is a tough dam to fish.................

Bon Accord is also another option

I never go into water like that. I have only been there once when some mates were fishing there. I tried to cast with thier pap gooiers and ended up breaking off. The lines are just not strong enough if you cast surf style(pendulum). I then fetched my surf rod and showed them some real distance.
As you can see fishing in a dam is not for me.

Only because you dont know how to fish them. Emmarentia is my favourite I have been fishing it for the past 16 years!

Dernalin Junkie, quite right. Among those 3 dams, I have caught only 1 6kg carp at wemmer pan. I am k@k at fishing those dams simply as they are last resport dams for me. By saying k@k, I was referring rather to location and safety and polloution but didnt mean to diss your water dude.

Ja, just a quick note on Rietvlei.

Was there 2 weekends ago and left after 30 mins!

There is so much fine grass / weed along the banks that if you're trying any form of artlure forget about it and as for wading in, yup..those leeches are full up!
