Hi everybody.

We are fishing Biermans (Vaaldam) on 05 and 06 October 2013. It is here.

I have never been to the Vaal, so any recent advice would be much appreciated.

The Vaal Dam should treat you well, perhaps not the best time if the fish will be spawning, but you should still get fish, or spawn might not affect you at all. Sweet flavours are usually a winner, Banjo, caramel and cinnamon flavours usually work for me, floatie with a dough backing has delivered some good results. I never leave the earthworms behind, and have had success on earthworm tipped with a garlic floatie on the hook. From the advice gained here and from friends, FX on the bol with a stronger flavour like TCP or garlic can be quite effective. the usual tips like like 'kolgooi' to build up a spot and varying your distances to locate the fish usually apply as well.
