Butt section for use as wading stick

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, and with a funny request to boot. I'm looking for the butt section of a heavy duty saltwater rod to be used as a lightweight wading stick. Ed Herbst is moving to Rhodes soon, and he really needs something super light and strong to wade with when he fishes. I know *nothing* about conventional rods/blanks at all, so if anyone can help out I'd be much obliged!!

I posted this in the Wanted section too, so would really be very grateful if anyone could help out. http://www.sealine.co.za/view_topic.php?id=80075&forum_id=95

Thanks all.

Ed is a legend! Post it in the saltwater section, more people read that.
Thanks Pylstert. I have looked at the Purglass site for blanks, but I have NO clue which would be suitable. I'm looking for something around 20mm diameter I guess. Don't want to "spam" the forum with posts in every board though. Purglass are less than responsive ito answering e-mails thus far ((wideeye))

Hi CFR,

I asked our rod workshop for their thoughts. We keep rod extension / butting pieces which are fibreglass, 2m in length, 25mm I.D. & 28mm O.D.

They seem to be strong and I think may suite your purpose. Price is R157.

You can call me at the Kingfisher (031 368 3903). My name is David, otherwise ask for Michael in our workshop.

Not sure if this helps?
