Butt cat 18ft6

The butt cats current state.

I have put the stiffening ribs on the sides of the gunwales. These took way longer to fabricate than expected... A 2 day process but I think they came out nicely.

I sandwiched 2 sections of 20mm nidacore sheet for the ribs and glassed them in place. I got the angles using a slide bevel which made life easy and then made templates accordingly.

Looking really great. Is it going to be a wet deck?

Correct, building her like a surfboard. Deck completely sealed and with drainage scuppers on the transom.

Going to have a splash well built in as well once I have the raised gunwales fitted .

Finally got the hull sanded down (had to remove 2K that had been sprayed over original gelcoat.) and had flowcoat sprayed on. She's starting to look like something finally.

Should have the top deck, console and hatches fitted by end of next week.

Hi Foxstrike

We thinned the flowcoat/poolcoat with styrene monomer and applied with a spray gun with a big port/nozzle.

It came out nicely, to be honest, alot less sanding is needed than I thought would be necessary. A couple touch up spots here and there...

I will upload some more pics once we have completely sanded and polished the hull 😬
