Building your own Ski

While having a couple beers on the beach yesterday we started talking about building our own kayaks from scratch.

We have all the materials and tools to make the molds, and we have got some basic plans off the net. What do you guys reckon it would cost to actually build a fibre glass fishing ski from scratch, we would probsbly do 2 or 3 to make it worth the effort of making the mold.

And how would go about getting them certified so that we can take them out, anyone ever built their own, or are we wasting our time and money?

Kayak build and materials is the cheap part. Making the mould correctly in the $$$ part.

Must say it isn't as easy as you think, except if you copy other ski's.

Kaskazi hull with an Evo deck or pinnacle hull with a stealth deck.

Is it legal to use 2 different boats and stitch them together, surely there are copyright issues?

We not scared of hard work, we are looking for a project to keep us out of trouble, but also don't want to spend a small fortune.

Any estimates on what the materials to make the boat would cost, mold excluded.
