Ja, tie a strip of niknaks packet to the eye for added flash and ditch the cable tie..you'll have a winner on your hands..

I don't think that spanners can really be considered "budget" anymore. Even a cheapo Chinese brand no. 17 will probably cost a whack more than the jigs on sale at Demon tackle and in the budget bin at Mias.

I managed to hook 3 Amberjack with a 17 ring spanner but they all came off much to my disgust but they were stupid thick at the time.
