BUDDY- CASTING

Went out Friday after work to fav bank casting spot for barbel, the miserable weather that we encountered during last week could have contributed to the lack of surface swirls and there was really no signs of barbel. As it got dark, I tied a Rapala skitter-pop concave-nose popper. It really makes a lot of noise and pushes a lot of water. My regular partner was fishing a trembler type lipless-crank and after I saw what looked to be a hit and miss on the popper I asked my partner to cast behind this popper everytime I make a cast .Sure as a coconut 3rd or 4th cast he was on,just by waiting maybe two or three seconds after my first chug on the popper, and then casting behind it maybe a meter or two.

I am not 100 % convinced that this was a well-worked plan or pure fluke. My partner however, firmly believes it was a well-worked plan that came together.Bearing in mind that there was not a cat to be seen prior to the miss and again the cat that he got.

Your opinions please..

I use the buddy casting Technique on a regular basis with great success however have never used a surface Popper on the primary lure - always sinking as often they will take the first lure too........

@ Deisil, I remember, it was one of your first posts.Same principal hey.

@ Ryan , The reason I used the popper was really out of desperation,it was fairly dark already, and only then could we entice it.Pretty much went through my bag of tricks by then.

@Deon,I really hope this isn't a trend that helps one to catch more, cos ,where would you find a buddy. ::SLOL

Die fly fishers gebruik ook 'n popper om die vis te lok en dan vat hy die agterste groot vlieg....
