Bronzy

This bronzy was caught by Harmen at mile 8. Throw bait with Mackerel fillet. Gave him a nice workout.

A healthy specimen

Must have fed on an elephantfish. Healed perfectly on the inside of the mouth. The spine came out easily.

Thanks Havoc
Christo, it was caught during December when the bronzies are thick. Easy to get up to 10 pickups per day.

Enigma, I can confirm that we compared the spike to an elephant fish caught later in the day. It matched perfectly.
I double checked and there was no wound on the inside of the mouth. The spike came out easily.

I agree 100% and this was my argument a few years ago when we got that Raggie with the spine coming out of its side. This is the natural way that sharks get rid of spines and bobs that one them and I'm almost sure that's how a hook in a gut hooked fish gets out of a Shark and possibly a fish as well

barble and elephant fish is a bronzies main diet if we could get them more often in mosselbay they would have been my 1st choice of bait half fish half shark ?

Shawn, I agree that it will make good bait, but over here it is also scarce.
Our bronzie runs in December and January usually coincide with the spawning of sandies and other flatfish on the sandbanks.
