Hi all..

So i did some spooning today for shad and snoek... my friend ( a local ) gave me a rod to fish with .. it had a nice daiwa reel and some decent casting braid..

WOW.. it cast hell far with minimal effort.. I liked it soo much that i am thinking of putting some casting braid ..15 lb on my carp rods and see if it makes a difference..

will still use a leader ( to not cut my fingers)

i just think that it will be a good option if the line spools ok on the GTE C's

sure braid is expensive but.. if you only replace it every two years.. why not..

It depend on you G, if you like the braid, you should put it on. There was a post a while ago on braid if you want to have a look at it, but I also want to see what the difference would be in carp angling.
You can still use a leader. The good thing about braid is that it lasts for a long tome so you dont have to change it as frequent as mono.

Whiplash or our new Spectra braids will last you 5 years plus.

The better idea for using a leader is that by using a Spyker knot you will break off at the leader joint at 80% of the braids breaking strain, loosing only the leader and no mainline when getting snagged

There are downsides to fishing braid as a mainline, especially with carp as the Zero stretch means some adaptation of the way you play the fish or you could have an increase in hookpulls.

Yes.  I use 0.10 Maxx PE, 7lbs line for long range fishing ina both conventional and competition Carp

Braid is widely used as a casting leader as with it's Zero stretch it loads the rod immediately in the cast

30 or 50lbs braid is also often used when Catfish are targeted in Conventional bank angling
