Can any body give me some advise regarding bottom fishing from a jetski, like what reel and rod to use,and sinker type and weight,and the actual trace.

If I can offer some advice regarding your concern. I use 3 different rod set-ups for bottom fishing. I have a 6foot Posedion Strikeforce rod and 6inch KP reel with 35lb mono line on it. I fish up to 60m using a 6oz sinker. I only fish 1 hook.The 2nd rod I have a 5foot 3inch Posidion Strikeforce rod and 51/2inch KP with 15lb mono line on it. I normally use from 1 to 3oz sinkers(max), also with 1 hook.The reason why I use only 1 hook, is that I fish from a paddle ski and when you bring the fish onto the ski the other hook is jiggling around looking where it can hook into you.The 3rd rod I use for bottom is a 6foot 3inch Posedion Jigging rod with a Shimanon Alvivio 10000FA spinninmg reel loaded with 25lb mono line. I use this for jigging, throwing spoons and Halco shallow diving hard plastics.

This is not an expensive set-up and does the job, that will set you back about R3000 altogether.I have tusseled some fair sized non-edibles which fight like hell on these rigs that have streached me proper and have never had the rod or reel break on me.

There are more costly rigs, as well as a huge brand of braids available. If you have the finance, sure purchase them, but I find the mono lines are just as good, and I've been fishing for close on 50yrs.
