Botrivier / Fisherhaven

Hi All! Trust that it has been a summer filled with tight lines thus far.

I am heading to Mereenbosch near Fisherhaven for a few days, and was hoping to get some tips and tricks for fishing the Botrivier lagoon or surf zone. I have read that the lagoon holds leerie, shad, steenbras, and sometimes springer as well. Going to take the wand (fly rod), and try rack up a few species - but any advice would be greatly appreciated with regards to specific areas to target fish. Assuming leerie will be the main quarry, but would love to find some springer if they are to be found as well! Apparently the mouth was opened in October this year, so was hoping the fishing would have been given some fresh life :)

If the surf zone is worth it, I will have some scratching gear with me - so any extra tips for areas to target fish would be greatly appreciated!

Tight lines

Not sure when you are going?

I've, never fished that area but - if you have a cast net - try get some mullet for live bait, I'm sure there must be bloodworm and prawns by the lagoon so try that out. Just make sure you have the correct permit to do this!

If there are Leerie around then livies will work a charm, also take some plugs and bucktails.

I have never really used fly so no comment there :)
All the best and tight lines, let us know how it goes!
