St Croix is the place where i got smoked the most, its also the place where i got my biggist ed.

Desember will be my first time fishing PE on my own boat, used to go out with friends in the past to st Croix, Recieve area and banke, never troled in Pe before, just bottom.

Please dont be shy with any info, i will be needing it a lot.

Master = Sansai = Judo / Karate - don't do it anymore - to old now ... ::happyd:

NO I'M NO MASTER. Just know a tad more than the "average" guy, call it practical experience ...  wanne get my interest, just mention light tackle, be it for strepies, BIG ELF OR COB or even Tuna, I'm game ...

By the way people, my son Ethan - 5 years old - got his YELLOW BELT in Judo on Saturday... I'M VERY PROUD.

Looking at the attached picture

red dots by the harbour entrance

  • I've heard (not experienced) cob and steenbras come out there, NICE ONES
[/*]
orange and red dots just outside harbour

  • smaller elf and smaller cob - nice livebait size
[/*]
yellow dots - small island outside harbour

  • small to med elf
[/*]
orange dots to the right of small island - check the running swell to locate

  • nice cob from 1kg up to 12kg
[/*]
Yellow dots - small island (bottom right)

  • NICE elf (small to med to large)
[/*]
Orange dots between small and big island

  • mackerel, red fish and also bigger cob
[/*]
Yellow dots - big island

  • EVERYTHING from yellowtail, elf, red fish and also crackers
[/*]
It's important to note that this should be a catch and release area, on an average day you will catch your limit in under 20 minutes ! On good days I have caught over 60 elf in under 2-3 hours, and then we not ever talking about the cob

LOOK FOR STRUCTURE, stay away from the big body of water between the 3 islands, it's not so lively there, concentrate on the areas I showed you.

YOU OWE ME BILTONG, 1 BLACK LABEL AND AN ONDA ONDA

For cob go LIVEBAIT like mackarel and elf (dead elf = sharks), for elf go purple ONDA ONDA

Hi Guys,

Thanx for the awesome info. Fished PE off my jetski Last December. Just got my boat and will be in my Hometown again in December. Where do you launch if you want to fish around the Coega Harbour area?

Would also like to trawl a bit. Would love to get a "Tail". That would be my dream to cacth. Are they there during Dec/Jan?

Regards

Hi Nielg,

Is Swartkops not dangerous for a not so experienced skipper? I know of a guy that lost his boat there in March/April 08 when he returned. Luckily nobody injured. I suppose a safer option could be PE harbour?

The rule for swartkops mouth is if you dont see the gap or the gap only appear for a moment eish....you guessed it, your in for a bump and a splash. or you got a 9m super duck with 12 diver onboard well thats another story...
