I have only seen big bonefish being caught once but it seems the trick is to get on the banks where they feed and any shrimp or tjokka bait nicely presented should do the job. i dont think fish baits work weel if they work at all for the bones.

Mainly caught on fly (various patterns)!

Have caught a good sizer (5.4Kg) on very light tackle (#9 fly rod and dropshot spinning reel) and pink prawn (shelled). Small ball sinker and extra long light fluro bite trace for extra movement in the water. This was on North Pier, Dbn. And was probably the best rev I've had this year!

A Friend of mine caught one in Kosi Bay. I will ask him for the pic and post - this was done while drop shotting (+/-2.8kg)

your best bet will be fly-fishing.went up to Tofu and fished the flats and nailed some big reel runners on fly.

Conventional tackle I would say use fresh prawn with a tiny ball sinker.Try to thread quietly on the flats and flick it just in front of them.Remember if it is too close, you are going to spook them.Bear in mind to use a bit of foam to keep the prawn suspended and your trace line should be about 70cm.

good luck
