there is a crocodile farm upstream in the magalies river close to my girlfriends farm, the one time qwe were screwing around in the river and a guy stopped and warned us that some crocodiles escaped so we must be carefull... i stopped my screwing aroung right there and then.... another theory, rietvlei has some crocs, with all the rain it aint beyond imagination for them to go down stream to harties...

my favorite spot on oberon and most probably in the top three for harties is on the extreme left of oberon. Down by the old tent section or by chalet number 2.
Security wise never heard of anything down there. I think that this might be because the guys normally use the railway line and its quit far from that spots.
Have caught barbel and carp down there of about 5kg but think there night be much bigger guys down there since those banks are hardly fished.
The last i visited that area was in December, there is a report on that trip under report section. Only they don't maintain that bank.
De rust is good but safety is a problem(overnight).
Advantage with de rust its cheaper.
