Anyone using this rod?

I Have just ordered a 40-100-430.

I would also like to order a lighter rod for steenies, Has anyone used it from the surf? Is it very soft in the tip and would it throw 4oz sinkers without bending like a carp rod?

I have a 40-100-430 throws a 5oz.
I don't think you need the lighter rod.
The 40 is the one that meets all your needs for edible fish.

I have both the 60 and 40.

Hi Splasher,

Thanks for your reply.

I did own the 50 and 40 previously. Loved both.

However Im very padantic with my rods and combos and for what species. Im terrible actually......

For targeting steenies in the overberg and some places in St. Francis I like to use a lighter rod, balanced with a smaller reel, I have ordered the 40 already, but need to get it a mate, hence was thinking the 30 to only throw 4oz sinkers and sometime 3oz.

Have you had a feel of the 30 yet? Just don't want to end up with something too soft.

I recall messing around with the whole range.
For me the 30/100 and the 40/100 was almost the same.
the only difference was the 30 would bend a tiny bit more when the rod tip was pulled down.

I have seen the waft HMG light. Its super light and slim. Not bad!
Assassin lite 11'6" 4oz sinker. Nice! Had one.
Poseidon ultra lite 11'6" got one. 2oz sinker
Sensation DC extreme oval 11'6" Very good rod just a bit soft in the tip because its not HMG. Sinker 4 to 6oz
