Blue Styrene

Hi guys, in desperation for Blue colored styrene. On a recent trip to Mili, the kingies went ape on bay squid wrapped around a coffin shaped blue styrene strip. Lol, n believe it.......or not, when using the normal white foam....we didnt get more than 2 Black tips. After switching to blue again.... the trigger was set!!! In the space of 20-30min we landed, tagged and released 12 kingies from Ignoblis, blue fin, black tip and green spot kingies. Weight ranged from 2kg to 13kg.

Tried this out at Mission rocks and the same pattern was smacked!! So guys any blue foam.... let me know where I can get sum.

Glad to have shared this with you but damn, the hook up rate is a def big ups.

Damnit..i envy you guys living in r/bay..this time off year the fishing goes ape shit up there..btw are u talking about the blue foam sold as bait float?..btw was the colour able 2 show thru the meat off the squid?..

Lol, yea but its hard work having to walk kms to the next hot spot. the blue styrene def was visible thru the delicate white tube. that was def the trump card of the day. Cant seem to find it on the shelves, becyds the white n red foam. Do u perhaps know wer i cud get hold of this foam?

Hi Volcom,

Camping mats are made out of  blue foam that is very similar to the usual red bait styrene.  If you're willing to buy a large quantity you can get a camping mat from any outdoors store and cut up to your requirements - relatively cheap, but you have to buy the whole camping mat just to get a little bait foam - probably last you a life time though - and will hopefully help you land hundreds of Milli Kings.

Hey guys

I was playing with my son son last night and I realised that his playmat is made from the exact same foam that is sold in the tackle shops as bait foam. The mat I'm talking about is the one that has numbers and letters cut into it and fits together like a puzzle.

This stuff is damn cheap, I remember paying about R30 for the mat which is about 2m x 2m and it comes in different colours as well.

Munoo... there is no "exactly how" in fishing!! Fishing is all about imagination, especially when it comes to bait!

This is the basic foundation I use for all my edible fishing....
A piece of styrene (this one is white) trimmed like it is. Tie it to your hook, after securing it with a toothpick as shown. After that, I take the Chokka and bind that on as a "base". Then take the prawn and add it to the Chokka, whichever way looks best to you. All it takes is some imagination and a lot of cotton, bru!

That's exactly the same way that I tie it, except that I de-shell the prawn 1st.
