Hi I got myself a BM big kob 5-6oz 3ps and must say it's one of my best rods I've felt.
I only change the grip on it and now it's very thin.cheers

G3 T30 Special Edition. Only two tips but you can use for large eds and big ineds.

My PERSONAL opinion on MULTI TIP RODS.

IT's a sales Gimmick some one thought out to sell rods.

Base and Mid sections are built to match each other and then to match the heavy tip.

This means that the rest of your rod overpowers the light and medium tip.

Buy a single rod for heavy and a single rod for light work. Pretty much the same price for one of each rods in a good allround class as what you will pay for a single top end rod with 3 tips.

It's MY PERSONAL Opinion but I will as rod builder will never recommend a multi tip rod as the one rod for all fishing answer.

To answer your question though.

G3 is to designate the rod as a 3 piece fishing rod. If it shows 6-8oz then the L tip will be 6oz, the M tip 7oz and the H tip 8oz

You will however be able to cast 6,7 and 8oz weights on the H tip so the others aren't required.

Out of interest sake, out of 500 multipiece rods we have refurbished over the years we have:

Refurbished L, M and H tips x 2
M and H tips x 14
Heavy Tip x 500

I think that says it all

Personally I prefer a different rod for different applications like enigma said. I use the G3 as an eds rod on places like danabaai and boggoms where heavy sinkers is sometimes required to cope with the current. Only for throwing/sliding livies. I have never used the lighter tip...
