Hi Guys,

Anyone been to sandveld recently? Planning to go next week and hopefully get stuck into some big boys!!!!

Chris. Dis 'n samoosa Baber wat jy daar vashou. Weet nie hoe die vangste in die Vaalrivier nou gaan wees nie. Hulle het die sluise oopgemaak by Vaaldam. So die hele hengel patroon gaan verander. Good luck...

Spent last week there and the fishing was good. The dam is full and the cats are grazing around the grass and weeds in the shallows. Biggest i hooked was 12.3kilo on carp head dipped in red duiwelsdrek. Overall we had 20 odd runs and landed only 11.

Sounds good! When you say you landed only 11, were they getting stuck on snags? How long you there for? This will be the first time I have fished bloemhof with the dam being so full so hopefully it goes well, will let you guys know.

If its BIG babel youre after why not go to "Die hoek". We caught seven in the weekends time the heaviest being 19kg's. Try Miempot or Riverside/view resort not sure of the name.

Lost in snags ja and poor hook ups.

Dont think going to the river is a good idea with all the rain we have had.

Sandveld as close to the bridge as possible. Place your baits under the bridge. Constant stream of food there because of all the birds nests under the bridge.

Carp head with chicken liver. Excellent combo. Even ox heart tied in a stocking and around the hook shank.
