Well...today was our first fishing outing since the end of July. Unfortunately the rough weather as well as our annual Samsa Inspections have kept us out and off the water.
Yesterday however, we had our gap! With our tackle ready and a light wind blowing, the sea conditions were not too bad; water temp was 20deg. and the swells were getting up to 8ft and there was a good colour line...We had a late start, after filling up the tanks but we were one our way for 7:30am. The YFT sadly were MIA and after looking around some of our favorite spot, FA and I headed back to try at Number 1...as we got near our mark we hear a line go...we turned, excited by the the screaming reel...only to find that instead of a great big YFT we had hoped for we had an Albartross on the line!!! The poor thing had decided that our feather looked quite enticing...The bird was not impressed that our feather had infact caught him...after about 5mins FA had him next to the boat...thankfully though, we managed to untangle him and after a few pics he was safely released...for us though it was back to the hunt.
It was not long before we had a hook up...and another...Yes! We found them...the Bonnie's...they were not what we were looking for but they where fun nevertheless, and besides, they are good bait. After some time we had a good few on the boat...nothing too big but fish is fish! Just as we were about to call it a day...yet another Albartross decided our feather looked good...this time it was on my line, so I ended up getting her to the boat...after a bit of a fuss she posed for a photo shoot and was last seen running across the water! final count 10 x bonnies and 2 x Ablatrosses All in all - not a bad day out...pitty about the YFT but there is always our next trip...NIKAO
