Big ups to Lowrance SA

So often we complain about things that go wrong, but this time I want to speak out about something that went well.

The other day I came back late from sea and on the way in I was not able to contact the control tower, then I saw a friend out there and established that my Lowrance radio was not transmitting.
I had the same model radio in my old boat and never had a single problem with it, but this radio was only a few months old and so still under warranty.

I was back at the Marina at 18h15 which as you well know is outside normal working hours, I then called the Lowrance Durban office as this was the only number I had for them on my cell. I was taking a chance calling so late but one of the Ladies working late actually answered the call.
I explained to her that the problem and that the radio was just a few months old and that I was launching early the next day and needed a replacement that night. She agreed to try and help me and was adament that I will launch the next day, toook my number and siad she would call back shortly.

Within 10 minutes I was called and told that there was a replacement radio ready for me, but that there was no-one to deliver to and me if I would remove my old radio and bring it in for the exchanege, she told me she would wait.

By 20h00 I had collected and installed the replacement radio and was ready to launch the next morning.

Well done and thanks to Lowrance SA.

Could "... one of the Ladies working late..." be Lowrance SA's Managing Director Lisbeth Plotz?

I'd also like to add, I bought a Lowrance LMS-522C from one of the guys on Sealine, it was still basically brand new (still in it's box). I think it had been used once or twice.

Nevertheless I did the whole installation and went out a few times. Everything on FF worked great but I noticed that it wasn't saving my sonar pings onto the SD Card. I contacted Lowrance, sent the FF to them and without any hassles or delays they replaced the unit.

It's just that I always expect an issue, long phone calls, lengthy e-mails. All in an attempt to 'convince' the supplier or manufacturer of what went wrong, in this case it was just too easy.

Thanks very much to Lowrance for the great service and support... :clap12

Yes

That comes as no surprise - as seen above ...

Lowrance South Africa has achieved the highest honour by winning the most prestigious international award at the recent Navico Distributor Convention held in Turkey for “Best Distributor 2010”.

Well I can tell you they deserve it, I really was not expecting a replacement that night, and even if they had sorted me out the next morning I would have still been happy. To me this was above and beyond my expectation.

I had a unit go faulty (was a second hand unit I bought with the boat) they checked the serial number found that was still under warranty and Selan replaced it with an upgraded unit as they did not have stock of mine at the time without a problem. Thats service, thanks

I had a problem with my fishfinder and spoke to Lisbeth Plotz who undertook to phone me back in 5 minutes. That was in 2008. Hope she calls soon.

The only explanation would be that she made a mistake when taking your number down.

The great service you experienced from Lowrance is not just once off. I to have had great service from them with regards to email enquiries and received very concerned follow up calls to make sure that I was happy about their product. Even though it was an entry level fishfinder.
I`m sold on LOWRANCE!

I understand that we all experience events in life differently and I am happy that you find the service levels received from Lowrance acceptable. Lis failed to deliver on the fishfinder and a few months later Seelan’s attempt as assisting me with a minor problem on my GPS was pathetic at best. (Both problems I resolved myself with just a little effort – but that’s a story for another day). I am now a content Pertec / Radio Holland customer and at least they pretend to be helpful and happy to see me whilst taking my money. There is presently none, and will never again be, a Lowrance product on my humble craft. Just my experience but hey, you guys think they rock – cool.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience Dean. Hopefully some day Lowrance SA, or us at FishTec will be in a position to rectify this. ;)

I bought a finder from Fishton and when I went to fetch it from Lowrance they had it ready and waiting for me.Ialso have had very quick response from Ms Plotz to my email queries. Good service levels are easy to brag about but not so easy to deliver.
