@Enigma, it's good to be wrong about this one lol! My head hurts like there's no tomorrow, but I'll survive, thanks.

@Riekert, you're right, hit and hold seems to be the order of the day for these fish.

@Cam, thanks for some great pointers there. It's hard to believe the two fish are a similar size, the difference is huge. I'm actually exchanging e-mails with Charmaine right now, hoping to get out to Hallaniyats with you guys first week of March, if you're on the trip you can hopefully show me in person with some big GT's how it's done ^^..

Thanks for the comments gents, much appreciated. Looking forward to the weekend for some more of the same! ::tight:

Hi Eugene

Bloody nice report and fish! Well done!

Regarding the fall... I can only laugh, not at you, but with you! If the fish is on, I always manage to "slet neer" as well. Elke sport het sy beserings!

Keep up the reports, we are loving them!

Thanks Blikkies, appreciated.

@noclue, it's a 12' medium heavy version, absolutely awesome rod, love it. Lots of backbone and enough flex to make even smaller fish a fun fight. I bought it from the USA, not sure if it's available in SA.

Don't think its available here.

I have a 9ft light 1-3 ounce and the 12ft 4-10 ounce. The longer one seems a bit heavy. But very well made rods!

hi Eugene , hope the head is a lot better.

i have been using these owner stingers for awhile now on all my plugs over 4 inches and smaller stingers on smaller plugs. it is 250lb kevlar line (i know its over kill) but i do not have to replace them as often as if i would be using a thinner kevlar. it maked no difference to action on lure.

have caught spanish mackerel on them and those things have razor blades for teeth. have found the hook sizes 4 *O* - 6 *0* hook size works the best , length of stingers i use are 4 cm to 7 cm.

if you using plugs with line running through them then put the stinger hook on a split ring and put a heavy duty swivel on the bottom of the plug where the line comes out , this just makes it easier to replace if you have to.

have had better hook up rate on these and they do not throw it as easy as it is a circle hook.

hope this works for you.

@Frank, great advice as always, I will give it a shot. Let me know when you're coming this way, it'd be awesome to join you for a couple of throws.
