I had good success with the Berkley stuff on the South coast but blanked just north of you at Morgan Bay last December. I put it down to conditions as the locals with bait were also struggling.

I will be doing the same trip in a few weeks time and hope to do better at Morgan Bay this time.

You need to fish Cape Morgan, (around the Kei Mouth Light House). This area has a lot of deep gulleys that produce bronze bream, Kob etc. Having said that my biggest Blacktail(42cm on bait) came to the right of the Hotel.You can also try between the krantzes and Double Mouth. I'm new to Dropshot but I've had good success on bait in these areas.

DB, waqs involved at Ponta Malongane for 2 years, ate 2 ft long King Mack and Dorado fillets every night till it came out of my ears.

Moz fishing incomparable with SA - and thats just accross the border!

My DVD finally was found by the Postponement Services, tracking number helped.

And, for what it is worth, I am impressed and it seems a good investment for both the viewer and distributor - I watched it with people who have never used anything other than natural bait, and with all puns intended - hooked.

And it will assist me, given that I am no expert at all.

As far as I remember to the right of the hotel is very very rocky and unless you can cast really far you will get caught up.

I saw many folks fishing at Cape Morgan and maybe need to give it a try this time.

We have driven to the top of one of the kranses and seen the made guys who climb down the sides to fish of the ledges.
We also drove to Double Mouth and I had many throws around the gulleys there with no joy.

How do you get to the area between the kranses and Double Mouth?

LJ - we can compare hear in Durban but for only a few summer months, and it is still inconsistant compared to Mozambique - The offshore fishing around Inhambane is very very good, and we go in winter !!
As far as the dvd goes, I think it is very good but I still am not converted, you would 'triple up' on those skipjack tuna with almost any spoon/lure - the reef fish may be a different story because of the added scent but I have caught plenty rock cod on bucktail jigs ????? (still got a bit to watch though)
Maby the berkley stuff will help when the fish are 'not so thick' ?? - all in all very informative to guys just starting out, it is one thing to read loads of stuff on soft plastic's etc..... but so much better to see it.

Streak, I've fished twice off the ledges on the front, awesome fishing but you battle to land a good fish and too many sharks, I'm also not mad enough to do it again. If you park on the double mouth side of the Krantz you will see the stones etc that mark the strandloper hiking trail, just follow the path down the side of the hill. It isn't that difficult. Cape Morgan is usually good and you could also try the Kei river if all else fails, Lots of Kob in the 2-8kg class at the moment but off boats higher up the river. If you park at the pont on the Kei river you can walk a long way up the river, when you get to the first long mud bank you will see a there is a little stream running out, about 50mtr before it follow the path into the grass and you will come to a wooden bridge. At the end of the bank you get a cliff, a bay and then a rocky point Called Land Slide(I think). This area produces big Kob. The only snag is that it is raining here and the Kei gets dirty for no reason, no problem with bait but it would really test if the scent in the Berkley really works!

And I offer my humble apologies, I watched about half of it again last night, WITHOUT THE KIDS MAKING NOISE.

They give lots of tips while they busy fishing. They don't stop to give you tips, it's done on the fly ...

Yup Neil, a very well filmed and presented DvD. Top Class.

Again, a big thanks to Van. In fact, I left my copy with Nepptune in Cape Town last weekend - so Van, if you have any more lying around? Not sure how to get mine out of Nepps grasp!

Hi Drewmill,

The gear used from the beach is Berkley Air 9' XH spinning and the reel is and Abu Cardinal 806.

Line - 14lb Fire line with flouro leader, leader length 50 - 150cm and the distance that they get is due to the fact that there leader knots do not go past the line guides.
