Berg River

Hi Guys,
 
I have seen some nice fish in the Berg river in Paarl and I would like to target them.

What is the best way to target river fish? The pools are quite shallow and the flow is quite strong, even in summer. It rolls a 2 oz inline..

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi Masegat
I have had great success in the Breede by pre-baiting the night before. That brings all the fish upstream. My favourite techniques is to use groundbait +mealies/boilies with a jar of peanut butter. Mix it with hot water to melt the peanut butter. Then I make giant bait balls and lob them in the water upstream of where I am fishing. The next day was magical.

If you are keen, I am in in CT and I would be happy to come pre-bait and fish with you. River fish put up a great fight;-)
